i found a guy in miami who has 125 lb tank full for $100. prax air wants $235 empty.

Make sure that you are not buying someone's rental tank. It's a pretty common ruse on CL.

I've never delt with a rental tank..... How do you tell a rental from a customer owned tank? I just bought a 150 cubic foot argon tank. Now I'm a little worried :unsure:

The only sure way is to take the tank in question to what ever gas vendor is on the tank. However, if it is a rental, then they may attempt to confiscate it, and you are out the money. Usually, rental tanks will have a neck ring with the owner's info (Praxair, Trigas, etc) Owner tanks, often have a blank neck ring. When I purchased my cylinder for my mig, the seller and I went to Trigas together, where the manager assured me that it was legit. Only then did I hand over the cash. I wound up with a 300 cu.ft. tank for $100, but it was a pain in the ass. $60 to fill it since I am a cash account, but that thing will last me forever.

i have not picked up a bottle yet, but i needed to do a small project. so i went to the HD and baught a 1 lb spool of fluxcore wire. at first it was leaving splatter all over, but then it started to look a lil better. all the years i have welded i always used gas....now i know why...

I have 9/10 of a roll of flux for the same reason. Good for welding outside, but the cleanup is no fun.

talked to miller, they said reverse polarity and dont use the auto set.....much better.
