Make a degree wheel

So I wanted a degree wheel but they are a bit expensive. So I copied this pic off the internet and took it to Paint brush and inverted the colors then took it to word and printed it. Next I cut it out and stapled it to a piece of posterboard (actually it was the cardboard from the back of a case of beer). You could print it straight to cardstock and cut that out and skip this completely. then I stapled it together. I think I'm going to try to get this connected to a thin piece of aluminum or steel somehow but for now it should work just fine. I'm including a pic of the finished product that is about 7 and a half inches across and the degree wheel as a file in microsoft word 07.

Thanks for the effort. I tried to print the xl page, but it distorted. So.... I copied it back to a Word doc, and Presto! Full reproduction, I think. At least it is equal in x and y planes, and subsequently round! You said it was 7" diameter? My word doc (using "Narrow" margins) came out approx 6 1/2" diameter.

I have a program that creates degree wheels. Right now, I have them in three sizes, but you can blow them up or reduce them as necessary if you have a good printer.

I haven't added the numbers yet, but that wouldn't be too hard, even if you just use a pen after printing.

You can open them in paint to edit them, but I recommend using some other program for printing them.

This first one is small. I use it on camshaft sprockets.

This next one is the "medium" size. Let's see if it will actually post.

Here's the biggest one.

Edit: too big to post. I'll host it somewhere else and put a link here.

Dammit loudhvx. I had to look all over for a stupid cam degree wheel before I found something printable  That one looks like it would be much easier to use for etching onto a metal surface though which is what I want to do next. Thanks.

Guess i was a little late on the draw. :)

Here's a link to the biggest version I have.

Because the lines are 1 pixel wide, you really can't shrink them without losing lines, that's why I made several sizes. The smallest works well for camshaft degreeing without a crank. I used it to spec out the KZ550 series of cams, in case anyone is interested in 550 cams.

Go to a hobbies store (like Hobby-Lobby or similar) and check the section with drawing tools. Usually within the rulers they have a nice round-transparent-plastic-degree ruler for about a dollar or two. I successfully used such a ruler to set and check for dwell angle on the points.
