My only concern about going with something like that off ebay is that its older than my bike and it may be 2 months before I have to rip into the bike again, if it works initially.
I did find this place, www.stockers.com/PSkawastreet.htm on first internet search. If you click on the red numbers to the left of each bike it has a starter, or rebuild parts, brushes and so on. I think this may be my solution.

Rip into your bike? It takes about 10 minutes to replace a starter. You remove the chrome starter cover (two bolts) then the two bolts holding the starter in place. You then pull the starter out and remove the nut holding the cable that goes to the solenoid.
In any case, if you feel better rebuilding yours, then that is the thing to do! Cheers...

On a Police bike you have to remove the floorboard, and the shifter. Since the starter didn't want to budge, I hade to remove the clutch cover to tap on it. Not exactly tough, but not 10 minutes. I purchased a brush plate from these guys. Great dealings and should be here tomorrow. Thats what I call service. Let ya know how it goes.

Glad you found what you needed. Just as a reference here is another site that sells brushes and other parts.

My 77 KZ650b will sometimes start using the electric, usually have to kick start or bump it. The starter spins mostly. The clymer says that the problem is likely the started clutch, gotta pull off the top of the motor to fix that, but a friend(harley rider) says it is likely the flywheel. Can anyone suggest some way to determine which it is or what it is if not what I have been told? The battery is good, holding a charge and shows 12v.
