Gotcha.
Kind of funny really, already I must have put a couple of hundred dollars into this bike. But not for replacement parts...for tools to work on it with! Guess ill head to menards and pick me up a dremel

the good thing about tools is you can use them more than once on more than one project!

Yup! As I like to tell my wife, "You can never have too many tools."

I decided to go and buy a hammer impact driver first. Helped me get the top right screw out, the left screw I just decided to dirll out since I already have a drill and bits. Got the head popped off without any damage to the case so thats a good thing
The bottom two screws are being stubborn as hell though. the hammer Impact driver doesnt seem to be helping much. I'll spray em with WD40 tonight and give it another shot, if that fails I guess i'll be drilling those ones out too

In the interest of keeping this thread updated for any other newbs like me that might search in the future, I drilled out the screws and removed my clutch cover without any issues. Still need to vice grip them out though and replace
If I hadnt had the stuck screws, I can see how easy a job this would be. With the cover off I just pulled a pin that was holding in the cable and removed the cable. Cleaned things up inside the casing a little and am just waiting now for the new cable to arrive so i can put that in. Then comes the fun part of getting the new one set up juuuust right...

Helpful tip as well....
I was going through clutch cables on my 1000 like crazy (every 3-4months)
I noticed that they snapped in the same place everytime, right at the lever.
I realized that over time, my lever actually had wore to a sharpened edge that the cable was rubbing on, so after a little filing, thankfully its been over a year with the current cable and no real visible wear.

On the same topic I am replacing my cable as well, except when I opened her up the pin was completely missing, as well as the adjuster screw (under the cover for adjusting the cable) was pretty much stripped
Are these kawasaki only parts, what do you guys recommend? I don't actually have cash for a couple days so I was sussing out my options
