They all like VM26's. The version with the gold slides should have pilot air screws. Likely, casting code Z12 00 from a 1976 KZ900.
The silver slide units, with pilot fuel screws, are a year or so later. 1977/78 KZ1000 maybe.
The black painted carbs are later still. I'm not sure what year and what model. \
Ha ha, my post beat Clay. He will know for sure. I'm just an hack compared to his knowledge of KZ history...

As if ED, You're just being coy! I can say though, judging what i can see. Like Ed mentioned, all 1977/78 variations of the VM26. Doubt any are the Z1200 KZ900 unless someone changed-out the choke lifter rod. KZ900 used a different rod/lifter with a slide-on rubber. The early KZ1000 (299 series) looks remarkably similar to the KZ900 because they still used the holder plate from the 900. The real tell is to clean-up the carb casting flanges right at the holder plate and report back. What's the intent with all these? Just looking for a matching personal set for Your application or to peddle them? Ed needs something to do, his hands are getting soft and girly, haha.

Thanks both. Y'all never cease to amaze.
will likely peddle them once I figure out what the heck they are and if they can be repaired.
One of them does have the slide-on rubber lifter, I think. let me confirm again. I did so some clean up and can barely see a few numbers. What should I look for with the engrave numbers? Thanks again.

The ID should be stamped on the flange below the choke lever (see pic, note this is a set of vm24ss carbs, but ID should be in same location) or on the same location on the outside of the carb # 4. I think the ID is the secondary part# in parts lists.
It is usually in 2 rows, as an example: set of 16001-1024 (parts list number) would like like below
102
4 (may be other number or letter after this)

Wow! Thanks again.
I see a “299” over “01” on one set. Then I see “R68” on the other set. Still
looking for numbers in the third set. I think it says Z12. Need a magnifying glass to be sure though.
stand by.

Seen some info that the 299/01 carbs were stock on 77 KZ1000 A1. The Z12/00 carbs were on the 76 KZ900. The other ID you posted R68 I have not seen before. I might suggest for that set look on the same flange on the other side of the carbs. Many carbs also have other letters and numbers on them and I think they are date codes or some other such thing, but do not appear to be related to part numbers.

Post a picture of the full rack from the airbox side and another from either end and lastly from underneath.
If the bodies don't have ribs they are Vm26 or bigger. If the bodies have ribs they are vm24's or smaller.
Only vm 22's have a port at the 10 o'clock position on the inlet mouth.
Both vm22's and 24's had either fuel screw, airscrews or both depending on the market they were originally sold in.

ahhhhh…very helpful. Thank you.
I found a 299 02 on the third set. Does that seem familiar?
Are these considered Smoothbores?

Very help pic and diagram. Thank you.
no ribs on any of the three. So VM24/26 or above it is! Pics of all three units below.
What is this smooth ore business about? Please.

Ooooops, that was supposed to have been posted in the other which carbs do I have currently running thread. 🤣
Regarding your carbs, they are not smooth bores. Smoothbores have a small rectangular casting on the carb body which isn't evident on your pictures.

All 3 sets you have posted pics of are Mikuni VM26ss carbs. It would appear they would of been stock on 1976 KZ900 (Z12/00) and 1977 KZ1000 (299/01 and 299/02).
