During the summer months, 15w-40 will be just fine. If you later ride in cold weather, a change to 10w would be a good idea to insure full flow at startup.

You.re in a moderate climate so the best way to go is the preferred weight 10w40. And as every body states, petroleum oil for a new engine, then switch to synthetic -- it's better. I use Mobil 1 racing 4T. It has the wet clutch additives and zinc for metal to metal valvetrains. Not cheap, but good stuff.
