That's great. I wonder what the compression ratio is now. Can you show a pic of the cross hatch?

MTC suggested it may be around 10:1

I'd like to use a grease coated OEM paper cam-cover gasket this time, but not sure what grease would be suitable. I do have some wheel bearing grease on-hand.

Best shot I have of the cross-hatch pattern done by Pit Stop Performance:

Note the marker lines where both head gaskets had to be trimmed to fit around the APE studs, and next to the center galley o-ring instead of on top of it...
a real PITA

Doesn't look any more coarse than I was able to get with the 220 stones. Maybe I'm there after all. I didn't open the gasket where the oil passages are when I put them in. I'll do it this time, maybe open the two rear passages as well.
Looking good. B)

Daveo good job so far. I put the same kit in 3 years ago with NOS 82GPZ cams. It's been fine. While I didn't really drill down to the level of detail you are doing, it's working out well. I need to do a valve adjustment, but NBD. I figure I got 5-8k miles on the kit, no worries. Those carb clamps you sent me are fantastic. Best things ever.

Completed the install yesterday, and adjusted valves today. After 85 miles, she got some fresh oil, and a good carb sync. Didn't go quite that smooth, but essentially we made it over the finish line.

I think we are ready for several nice rides before old man winter arrives...Hallelujah!

Thank you for all the support...

Nice having the pistons and rings all prepped by someone that knows what he is doing. My engine now has a straight set of jugs, instead of those old curvy-wobbly all out-of-round things.

Just following up...didn't snow much all winter at mine!

I have put down eight hundred miles since this top-end assembly, and the oil still levels at the top of the viewing window.
This to me is amazing.

:)
