Hijack warning
Concerning the JIS discussion, as Nessism has pointed out, a fairly new #3 Phillips seems to fit JIS screws pretty well. In looking at my own little tool collection, I see that older, made in USA, screwdrivers all have the very pointy Phillips tip, while my newer, made in Japan, drivers look just like JIS. My impact bits, also made in Asia, also have the more blunt JIS profile. I wonder if Asian manufacturers have just been rebranding JIS drivers rather than actually making real Phillips tips?
