Having done a couple helicoils myself, I would recommend those for your thread replacements. Other types are available which may be superior for several reasons, but they are generally more difficult to install, and more costly to purchase. If you have limited mechanical ability or experience with things like that, it could be advantageous for you to hire out the repair to a local machine or engine shop.
You should own a Genuine Kawasaki Owners/Shop Manual from which to glean just about everything knowledge-wise about your bike. Having fourteen years companionship will help you tremendously.
