Oops. The primary resistance is supposed to be in the 3ohms range and the secondary resistance is supposed to be in the 15,000 ohms range. I'm not seeing that listed on the description of the coils. Looks like a call to them is needed.

The stock coils are very reliable. What makes you think they are bad? Typically they last the life of the bike. Refreshing them by replacing the leads with new 7mm copper core ignition wires along with new NGK caps can't hurt though.

Edit: the factory Kawasaki service manual specs 1.8-2.8 ohms primary resistance, and 10-16 k ohms secondary resistance for the coils. The caps are 5k resistance as well.

I tested the ohms reading. 2.8 ohms on the primary resistance and 11,000 ohms on the secondary resistance. There is no spark. At least not one I can see when I test it.

If your coils are bad, the grey Dyna 2.2 ohm coils are supposed to be the best match for the stock electronic ignition, but you can use the green 3.0 ohm which is what I'm using. You may have to adapt the coil brackets to fit them. usually a couple of L-brackets per side from the hardware store. I made brackets from angled aluminum bar from the home depot. My 81 650 has the same ignition system as most of the 750-4s.

..... prototype.

I think so. 11k is a little low, but I think they should fire. I am betting that the problem is either faulty secondary wiring or no power to the coils.

Secondary wiring and power to the coils?

Could you please explain these?

Haha

Sorry man, I know I'm new to this sort of stuff. Not to sound trite, but could you explain it to me like I'm a five year old...? Simple descriptions would help me out a lot! Thanks

Also, the pic you posted earlier wasn't loading before. But because my primary resistance is at 2.8 ohms, and my secondary resistance is at 11,000 ohms, it should be good to go and it is most likely the spark plug leads that are bad?
