The earlier KZ models like my 1977 KZ650 didn't come equipped with that new-fangled gadgetry. Ed

I could be wrong but I thought it started with the 73 Z, I'm sure we had it on my brothers 1976 Z900 (Green with gold stripes). I remember thinking how nice it would be to have this in my Mach3 (instead of neutral at the bottom)

First Permanent ride the Z1R since Dec1977 (220,000km) as of June 2015
Second permanent bike 1989 FJ1200 dyno'd 140RWH, great bike.
Third ride is now the Frankenstein 1981 GPZ1100B1, 1983 fully recon motor fitted LOVE THIS BIKE
Forth my work bike FJ1200 1989 (same type as FJ above)

Yup. The PNF debuted on the '73 Z-1's. It's present on both of our Z-1's manufactured late '72. It was also touted in Kaw's Z-1 advertising of the day.

That's true for the big bikes as the image below for the 1973 Z1 shows. I wonder why Kawasaki delayed putting that on the KZ650. Ed

Sorted, it was just the positive neutral thing, bike back together and selecting all gears.
