Good advice so far and maybe try to get the choke set so it idles at 1,500 or so for a min or so at start up ...... had pretty much the same thing going on and needed the rpm to be closer to 1,500 to keep it running clean till it warmed up a little..... is better since I have done the 700 kit but then I've done so much else too something wasn"t quite right........ maybe manifolds a little later on plus what else has been recommended.

1978 KZ650 b-2
700cc Wiseco kit 10 to 1.
1980 KZ750 cam, ape springs, stock clutch/ Barnett springs.
Vance and Hines Header w/ comp baffle and Ape pods, Dyna S and green coils, copper wires.
29MM smooth bores W/ 17.5 pilots, 0-6s and 117.5 main
16/42 gearing X ring chain and alum rear JT sprocket.
