All cool stuff. I just don't buy it.
Even Kawasaki HI had a hard time cracking 150mph on the factory prep'd 903cc Z1 at Daytona.
The fastest I ever got my tweaked KZ1000 with Denco headers, correctly jetted carb's, stock air box no snorkel, Dyna III, clubman bars, cafe qtr fairing, my Avons on it and stock gearing.... And I also was a 135lb lite weight.
Out on a 12 mile long, nearly dead straight section of newly paved I-76 in NE Colorado....
About +138 mph on my ND speedo. And they are always at least +5% generous!!
So that's more like 128mph.
Would it have gone faster in 20 miles? I don't know but I doubt it would.... who knows.
This was a bike that would run consistent 12.00 sec qtr mile times.
153mph on a tuned and tweaked but stock 650cc with no bolt on, high rpm power boost? Hmmmm.
Is it possible? Maybe downhill with a 10mph-15mph tailwind.
Regardless, I find it fun garage/shop talk but probably just wishful thinking.

When the KZ650's broke all the 750cc class records at Daytona they didn't go nearly 150 mph even on their shortest (10 mi.) run. These bikes were primarily stock, but they were tuned to the hilt, had clip-ons with the riders laying on the tank, etc. These were really fast KZ650's that were professionally prepared and raced, and the records they set at Daytona lasted 10 years. I gotta get me one of those duct tape belly pads... will really make the miles go by with class!
How come that never caught on as a race replica fad?
