Howdy, just wanted to post about my two projects I have going. The 550 was an abused but complete bike with a outdoor lawn furniture textured black an silver paint job...on every part. I'm doing a complete frame off restore on it. The 1100 I just picked up about three weeks ago as a stored non runner from the original owner, well documented, I mean ever scrap of paper. Problem is it sat since 1991 with a failed FI system. The owner tried to fix it, buggered most of the FI system in the process. He tried to put a set of RS34 on it, they never worked right. So I've spent a lot of time and some money getting parts for the FI to put it back to original. The on part I'm missing is the bracket that holds the fuel pump. I lost a bid on one last night, so if you are the guy who out bid me, I need that part, not the regulator, the bracket. Or if anybody has one, let me know. For now I am fabricating one to get it up and running.

Thanks glad to be here.

Just as a general question to all, any tuning advice for the FI would be greatly appreciated. I've read through a number of post, but most are around 9 years old. Maybe there is some more up to date, or newer aftermarket tech for these old girls? I live in CO so density altitude is concern when tuning fuel systems for me.

Welcome to KZR...I saw that 9 yr old thread (I started that thread, BTW :) ). I can't be much help on acquiring parts for the B1...there is some newer tech stuff (Microsquirt, etc.) bumping around but also enough used material on eBay to allow a 1981/1982 GPz to be properly resurrected...and it wasn't me who won the bracket :)

I've read enough on this forum to know that sticking with the FI is the way I want to go. I also like keeping the bike stock, it has only 3600 original miles on it, and every scrape of paper work that came with the bike. Down to the tags that were attached to it from the dealer. It even has the original rear tire, front rotted off. If I can here is a list of stuff I need that were missing and lost by the owner.

1. OEM gas cap, the black chrome one.
2. In tank gas tank fuel level meter, round base style.
3. Battery box plastic base/case.
4. Fuel pump mounting bracket.

I did just purchase a spare ECU 21175-1003 and had already purchased a 1982 model 21175-1004. My question, and I don't want to start the war again, but will the 1004 work with the 181-B1 model?
I also picked up a spare MAF meter, and finally found a stock air box and a spare fuel pump.

Question; is there some sort of cover that goes on top of the battery to keep the MAF meter from touching the battery? I can not find anything on the diagrams in the manual, I would think this is a shorting hazard with the battery.

If somebody has a photo of how all this should look that would be great.

Thanks

Not sure on the cover (mass air) but I may be able to help you on the fuel level gizmo and the base gasket...I'll have to do some digging this weekend.

If you can get o set of the B2 injector mounts, they are isolated from the engine heat better than the B1 's are.

Forgot, I also need a fuel back pressure regulator, that gizmo that screws into the fuel tank for the return fuel system. The one I have seized from corrosion, the PO drilled it out.

Also, I've pretty much determined that the 21175-1004 82' model "brain" will not work with 81' hardware. The wire buses are different. SO, I might have a good working 1004 up for sale or trade.

Yeah progress, verified the fuel pump works in circuit. Should actually be able to start it today. One part I need still is the side battery door / side cover holder. I found one at old kawai guy, but he has not responded to my emails. If anybody has one I'll purchase it from you.

Checked my part supply and unfortunately, what I have is an NOS fuel level meter from a 1981 KZ1000K or M model. It is longer with a twist to the float and probably won't work in the GPz tank.

Not wanting to hijack your thread ,just got a quick question. Does a GPZ1100 have an hydraulic or cable operated clutch?
