Sort of a newbie question but do valve cover gaskets for a 1976 kz900. ..do they go down with the flat side to the head surface or does the rounded part of the gasket go down .

I'd put the "flat" side down. These are stamp formed. That's why it looks that way. Might make it easier to reuse later. Put a dab of sealant under and where the cam caps meet the head.

Yup that'll help the cam's stay in place and tear shit up when you start it.
Why the hell do people call the 1/2 moon cam cover end plug's cam cap's ?.
They ain't the same thing and can be misleading and cause someone to fuck their shit up.

Sorry I just think people should use the correct term for the part they are referring to
when trying to help those less informed about engine's.

Kinda like my bike has a motor and an engine.
The ELECTRIC. MOTOR start's it the COMBUSTION ENGINE make's go down the road.

Cam tower is the cast part of the head that the cam rest in.
Cam cap's are the part that hold's the cam in the cam tower's.
