Sorry to hear it's in your barrels. Hopefully it didn't damage the cylinder walls. If it's just a broken piston skirt, it may be possible to hone and install new parts. If not a oversize piston might work. Keep us posted on your progress.

Hello Janklaassen.
My name is Horacio, i live in Argentina.
I own a 1980 kz 440 b1 Kwaka, since she had only 4500 mi.Now she is 50.000, more or less.
I read your issue about your engine rattle, AND when i saw the picture of both pistons crowns, i noticed the right one has some kind of "silver polish ring" facing the barrel.
That shows there has been contact between the piston top and cylinder head/head gasket.
That can happen when bottom end is too loose, or maybe a crankshaft journal is out of specs or damaged.

Could you solve it?
Did you find something leading to solution?
Please let me know, i love kz´s, and find great that people ride them.
