If your measurements were in thousands, and not metric. You are within specs. You listed most of your clearances were at .003 and one at .002. As long as you didn't have to "force" the .002 thousands feeler gauge between the cam and the shim, you are good to go!!!!

Its .002 to .004 thousands for KZ1000 valve clearance according to Kawasaki. Later Kawasaki changed it to .002 to .006.

Dr. Gamma, I guess I should of looked at the FSM closer .05-.10mm ( not thousandths ) which equals .002-.004" which is what I have !!! Thank You for pointing that out.

And maybe the compression #'s I got may come up a little more when the bike is fired up again.

Still doesn't dismissed the fact that the # 2 cylinder is a lot lower than the others and the metal shavings found in the oil.

Got my work cut out for me.
