I filled exhaust port with brake cleaner and let it sit for a bit and there were no leaks.

Lapped surface looks too narrow to me, but I am a car engine guy. Pitting is too big. You need more lapping or machine shop.

Is that a crack at 3.30 on first picture? Take a magnifying glass and high resolution picture. I increased your picture 400% and could see 2 cracks next to each other, I think.
Lap as long as needed, you'll check clearance later.
I could only see crack on picture of Jeep head.
I almost never bring heads to machine shop, I lap by drill.

You read my mind as I was going to say color them with a sharpie or felt tip marker and then lap them again and you will see what's going on.
