Almous71, In my earlier post I mentioned "Bigserts", just to be sure you know what they are.... They are made by the same company that make "Timesert", however, they go in a larger hole, hence, can usually take care of off-centre errors, if there is enough meat where you are re-threading. Lots of engineering shops are not familiar with these!

Thanks Garn, I did see your mention of bigserts, and I'm still looking for a shop that uses them. I'm concerned that there's not enough meat left to cut into though:

I know it can be welded and machined, but I suspect that'll be more than I can afford at the moment.

Seeing that picture, wouldn't the gasket surface need to be re-surfaced as well?

Or possibly a new used head.

On another note, dose anyone know if the marks on these journals and part of my intake camshaft indicate normal wear or more serious damage?
