Home-made ignition side cover
29 Aug 2013 21:02
Didn't know if I should post this in engine or electrical, but in either case, It beats the cracked/Epoxy filled eyesore. I cut it from a solid billet of 6061-T6. It should be finished tomorrow just in time for my new chain and sprocket conversion Arrives! Let me know what you guys think!

That looks like it turned out pretty nice. What sort of finish are you going to do?

Manual Lathe and Mill. Probably gonna bead blast it and I can't decide whether I wanna mill something on the front ( left it .200 thick just for it) or if I wanna get a wooden dowel and some clover compound and jewel the center... if I mill it, I want to do some horizontal likes with a ball0nose and cut wither a "Z" or "KZ" on the front. Bead blast the straight side, polish the chamfer, bead blast the center and leave the milled letters and lines shiny.....too many options....

You'll have to update this thread with some more pictures. Don't be to surprised if someone else wants one. You may get a couple of custom requests.

Just clean it, and have it clear powder coated.
Then make a clutch cover to match.
VERY NICE

turned out nice  !
some of the kz1000 ign.covers are thicker than others.
so i used a thick one and machined it off so that it would match my clutch cover and polished and painted it.
keep up the good work.
