Magazine articles do not always get everything right. It is true that American Turbo Pack (ATP) supplied the turbo kits for the Stage 1 Z1R-TC but Turbo Cycle Corp (TCC) installed them on over 500 bikes and shipped them to the Kawasaki dealers. Stage 2 and Stage 3 kits would be considered ATP engine kits. Any dealer or anybody could install a ATP turbo kit on a Z1R but that does not make it a Z1R-TC.

Which I worked on, and the two cars.
In the article there is a pic and caption about the Z1-R TC.in textThe original 1979 Kawasaki Z1-R TC using American TurboPak's engine kit."I know it wasn't an "engine kit", it was a turbo kit.Hahn's introduction to turbochargers was in his fathers famous American TurboPak performance shop back in the early '70s.
I am not sure "who" installed them.
I was "told" dealer installed.
I do know that Bill sr. owned ATP.
I do know that Bill jr., snick...um...well...
lets not go there.

You would be surprised how many bikes have duplicate VIN's. In Michigan when you apply for a new title they only check the national data base for stolen bike numbers before they issue a title.
