I have a kawasaki kz750 ltd 2stroke. when i bought it the guy told me that he changed the wiring so tht the electric start doesn't work meaning so it can hav more torque, but the kick for sure works. everytime i ride it, the spark plugs seem to wear out within 2 hours of riding, and after those 2hours, the bike will start to die out every half a mile. i hav no idea what is wrong with it. someone please help me. :'( its my first bike.

Since Kawasaki did not make a 2 stroke LTD I will assume your talking about the 4 cylinder 4 stroke LTD. Removing the electric starter will not give the engine more power. What do you mean the spark plugs wear out, do you mean they foul out. I hope because you mentioned it is a 2 stroke you are not adding oil with your gas. You havent given us much to work with here.

A 79 should be a 750-B Twin. Do not add 2-cycle oil to the fuel.
The service manual will have charging system & ignition system checks.
Check the battery to make sure it is good.

PS: don't believe anything the po said - people forget, don't know, or flat out lie & make up stuff.

If runs about 1/2 mile, dies, then starts and runs another 1/2 mile, dies, etc., might be fuel starvation resulting from a blocked fuel tank vent.

To test for this condition, may try running with the fuel tank cap ajar (not closed completely down), which assures venting.

Good Fortune! :)

If you were told it is a 2-stroke and are using pre-mix 2-stroke fuel or adding oil to the fuel it is no surprise the plugs are fouling. Kawasaki never sold a 2 cylinder 750CC 2-stroke, any 2-stroke LTD, or any 1979 750cc 2-stroke. Your bike is a 4-stroke and uses normal gasoline with no oil mixed in with it. Ed

right now, i actually have to get another new pair of spark plugs. because after the 2 hours or riding, then half miles of starting and dying. it will soon enough not start at all, until i get new spark plugs, which i have to do right now

Badly fouled spark plugs (really black) are generally cause by one or more of the following

-- enrichner (choke) being left on while riding.

-- the fuel mixture is too rich. Common causes are improperly adjusted carburetors, malfunctioning float valves, clogged air filter.

-- insufficient electrical current at the spark plugs. Common causes are weak battery, corroded connections in the wiring, bad coils, rotten secondary wires.

-- excessive oil consumption. Often caused by bad valve seals or worn piston rings.

Since you mentioned that the previous owner messed with the wiring, that would be at the top of my suspect list. A weak battery would be a close second. With an old bike, there may be a combination of causes. A genuine factory shop manual, some quality tools, a great deal of patience, a wad of money, and the generous help of folks around here will get the bike working smoothly again.
