How to get the mech. advance off

So the bolt is broke off in the top left. I tried extracting it with everything on. But I'm just spinning my wheels. So to take the whole housing off is what I need to do. But the advance is a little hard getting off. Do I just spin the 13mm bolt counterclockwise that is on the 17mm bolt while holding the 17mm bolt steady? I do not want to cause anymore damage than what I am trying to get fixed. That little 13mm bolt doesn't want to budge.

It may have corroded threads; try soaking it with Kroil for a day or two.

Yes, counterclockwise. If you don't have any Kroil, Liquid Wrench penetrating lubricant is a good one & cheap. Apply the penetrant & let it soak for a while. You could wipe off the excess, warm up the engine, then apply some more & let it soak. Also, if need be, use a wood block & mallet to tap the bolt - vibration helps to loosen stuck bolts. Apply some more penetrant.

Got it off. Just needed a little help from the cheater bar. SO now there is the oil seal. I couldn't find any definite answers in the manual . But I hope the can of worms I am opening doesn't cost me more time and money. I just need the rh engine cover out of the way to tap a new thread . Any important info before I goand try prying off the rh cover?

You are going to need the 6x1 mm helicoil.

No. I used a .25 to get the trash out. I thought of just jb welding .25 helicoil in there since it's non load bearing. The hole is at .288 now. Any ideas that are better than mine? Really i thought the next size is an m7.

with the advance off there is a rubber oil seal right there. When I got the bolts removed I gently pried on the housing and everything came off smoothly.

the rubber piece I was talking about. I was hoping it wouldn't become damaged from taking the housing off the crank case was all. When I am doing something for the first time I get worried that the lesson learned will be a valuable one
