Okay- next question is: MTC or Wiseco? They're both about the same price on Ebay....

Ill go tell my bike that 10.25 wont work. Have you ever checked your advance weights to see if they are stuck all the way out from corrosion ? You either are way too lean or the advance weights are stuck. I ride over Beartooth Pass which is 11,500 ft with no problems. You would normally have more problems at sea level & less as you go up in elevation. At Daytona Bike Week you see plenty of big motors street ridden with serious compression & big block cylinders.

They both have made pistons for quite a while and are good companies. It's personal preference or basically the same, as far as I've seen.

MTC or Wiseco? I had the same question 20+ yrs ago when I built an 1105 motor. At that time the prevailing thought was MTC was a bit more durable, say for road racing or endurance application since it was a bit heavier piston with longer skirts where as the Wiseco was a bit lighter, shorter skirts, more suited for drag racing.I don't know if this is still true or not. As has already been said, both are good companies that have been at it a long time. I would think if both companies have readily available replacement parts, rings, pins, etc, you can't go wrong with either.

20-30 years ago there were a lot of choices. MTC, Wiseco,RC Engineering, Yoshimura, Venolia, are just the ones I can think of. Every one of them are good. The main differences between them are that some were forged and some were cast. Some used wrist pin clips and some used buttons.

Hey mtkawboy , dshelly over here in Belgrade. Sounds like we both better stay away from denver or our bikes won't run. I also run the 10.25 Wisecos with a set of bored out Mikunis rus great. So, Gman Run whatever pistons you like better. From what I have heard, Wiseco has some quality issues a while back. But I've never had a problem with them.

If she's jetted correctly and your cam/ignition/timing is sport on, I believe you should have no problem running that configuration.

Hell, if I can run here in AZ, these ole girls should run anywhere within reason.... :blink:

Phoenix elevation ~ 1100 feet...
Summer Heat ~ 105 -> 115F

Payson AZ elevation ~ 5000 feet
Summer Heat ~ 75 -> 85F

Wiseco kit @ 10.25:1 1015cc
Webcam .365 cams
Keihin 29mm CR Specials

Runs up the mountain (~5000 feet) or during extreme heat index, I just tweak the slow jet screws out (CCW = leaner) ~ 1/8 -> 1/4 turn all is good.
