High temp silicon -- thanks Patton, I will have to pick some up -- I just hope my copper re-pipe holds, time will tell. It says 'gasket maker' so that means it holds up to cylinder-level heat, should be find for the crossover tube level of heat.

Thanks everyone for the help on this one.

any 100% silicone you buy at lumber yard is high temp, cheaper to buy a caulking gun tube of it B)

In other words its the same stuff just different packaging.

By the way, any chance you can enlarge that photo, especially the one with the leopard bikini. :silly:

Still recovering, some days are better than others.

Thanks for posting this. I had a break in the same section of the pipe on the right side and your suggestion worked perfectly. A year later I paid twice as much for that copper fitting at Lowes.

newOld_kz1000 / nicksorg - do you have an update on the results and how long it's been on the road? I'm about to do the same as a temporary fix to get my 1979 up and running and later on replace the exhaust.

Many thanks for the suggestion,

Sorry for reviving an old thread but I have the same issue. However the pictures are no longer available. Does anyone have a picture or size or something of what that fitting was?
