In 1997 my brother and I rode from California to Belize Central America. I rode a 1985 Suzuki SP600 dual sport bike and he rode a 1978 Kawasaki KZ750 twin. Now I completly rebuilt my bike prior to the trip. My brother found his KZ750 in someone's back yard 1 week before we left. He dragged it home and changed the oil put on two new tires a new battery and a new chain that was it. He never even tuned it up. That bike ran great for over 4000 miles of HARD road. It always started and never let him down. It ran great from sea level up to 10,000 feet, paved roads or dirt, muddy roads it didn't matter that old Kawai just kept on running.
My Suzuki however broke a balance chain. I was very impressed with the Kawasaki and it's reliability. My brother even sold the old Kawai in Belize for $700.00 cash which bought him a plane ticket home.
