A noted Marine boat builder and Cummins dealer who refitted and repowered a friends 32' aluminum boat recommended using RectorSeal for stainless fasteners in contact with the salt water elements and aluminum. I must say it has worked well and will continue to use it.

Unless left for years (like 20) i believe stainless will be ok with aluminium. However, if you try to spin SS out of Alu quickly the heat buildup can make them bind.

Use copper nuts for holding your exhaust on & you wont have a problem.

Studs are manufactured with a larger diameter on the installed end versus the end the nut goes on. This is to ensure the stud is a snug fit in the head. There's more chance of stripping the thread out of the head as the bolts thread is undersized to allow nuts clearance.
