I always though oxygen was the source of power, the more oxygen you can burn the more power you make. A pipe that doesn't flow enough additional air to require rejetting is not, in my mind, a pipe that would dramatically increase power. I don't believe his claims at all...a whole lotta hype with very vague claims from customers....

Can Murray make his pipes out of stainless? And would it clear a monoshock linkage? If so, I may be interested...

My only disagreement with your post is the part about oxygen burning, it don't.

Oxygen is a catalyst that allows other stuff (known as fuel) to burn. Take a oxy/acetylene torch, turn on the oxygen while leaving the acetylene off and try and light it.

Fuel reacts with oxygen to create combustion. Oxygen combines with iron to create iron oxide, AKA rust. Just thought I'd throw that one out there :)[/quotej]

Why would you feel the need to disagree with my poorly phrased statement? Your statement is simply the reverse of my original post. Oxygen without fuel is just as worthless as fuel without oxygen. Turn on that same acetylene torch without oxygen and you get.....nothing. I did not feel a tutorial on the basic dynamics of fuel combustion was required to make the simple statement that the difficulty of making more power is getting more oxygen into the engine. My statement was in context to the thread, referencing an exhaust system, which to the best of ymy knowledge does not introduce extra catalyst, but does have a direct bearing on the oxygen available for combustion. I simply take exception to you using my post to talk to the readers of this tread like we're morons.

This is very serious stuff, meow! someone threw a rock at the cat!:woohoo:

When I first rebuilt my MKII (1229cc) back in the early 90's I was having a hard time finding a pipe that I really liked. I tried a Denco, an RC, a Supertrapp, a V&H and finally got to try out a Campbell X-pipe. It was the one with the "MX-3" in red on the canisters. Anyway, that thing did run well but I just couldn't get past the sound. It was just too different for me. Didn't get to run it on the dyno but it seemed to make a lot of power throughout the rpm range. I finally settled on a plain old cheap chrome V&H 4-into-1. It was only $240 at the time and the quality was good back then.

MGK 612, the most recent post in this thread was made in September 2010.

Perhaps you should contact Murray to see if they still make the system.

You can also give Campbell a call.

Thank you! I was really just hoping to score one of these Campbell Pipes for my KZ1000, only to realize the guy that said it was hanging in his garage had it for a 650, and not a 1000.

Sorry, I was super tired when I wrote a lot of my first posts. And of course trying to get a feel for the forum. Will make sure to comment/post in newer stuff!

Thanks!
