The ST or shaft are different than all others, made for touring , they are very heavy duty. I have several. The engine is the MARK 2 a bit different than the standard kz1000. Learn all you can, get books read this forum, lots of help here. Keep wiring in top shape, keep in tune and don’t abuse it. It will last long time

He probably still rides it, though it's been fifteen+ years since that post.
Still riding my 1100 shaft, twenty years later.

There is a '79 shaftie near me for sale. All original too.
I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.
