KZ750 not running correctly. was created by Ituen
My bike was running fine on the 4th of July. I took it out tonight and it sounded different when I started it. It slowly revs to redline, but doesn't feel as strong. It won't go over 60 mph. The fuel light was on and I stopped and got gas. I noticed strands of the exhaust insulation coming out of the megaphone. Any ideas before I drop it off at my mechanic?

Sounds like a clogged main jet.

I'll check it out after work. The gas tank was recently coated internally by a shop. The carbs were also cleaned a few weeks ago.

If it were a car, I'd say clogged catalytic convertor. Since you are seing strands of muffler packing, maybe your muffler is clogged.

It's only a few "hairs" here and there. I'm going to take the V&H megaphone off and take a better look at it. (I think the rivets need to be drilled out to replace the packing).

Do you have inline fuel filters? If not, you can look forward to lots of incidents where it suddenly starts running crappy....

Clear fuel line should get tossed. You need real fuel hose. That clear stuff causes no end of problems.

I have a "blue see-through" line, but no filter. I have to put one in. I took it to my mechanic. It was the fuel tap. I had it pointed to the "ON" position. He said I should have it pointing at the "PRI" position. Once we did that and I cleared it out, the power is back! I rode it around the block and it runs great. Thanks to everyone for all of your help.
