I came a cross some A4 stock, original, NEVER been used mufflers. In 1976 the original dealer cut them off before they were installed out of the crate. He then installed 4into2 slip-ons, mags, and king/queen seat to make a Ltd before they were readily available. I was going to buy just the mufflers for $100 when the guy said he would thro in the original head pipes, which are in EXCELLENT condition.
I am going to have short stainless sleeves tig welded onto the mufflers to make 4into4 slip-ons.
These mufflers have NEVER been fired. By the time I add in the cost of fuel ($150) to go pick them up in Spokane, mounting rubbers, welding etc., I will have a stock exhaust for around $400. I figure that's a pretty good score when you consider repro units are $1500.
I'l try to attach pics.

Great find! Just imagine if the guy hadn't cut them but had simply bought an aftermarket system back then and stored the originals in new condition. What would they sell for? Probably nearly as much as he originally paid for the bike. Ed

I bought a piece of 1-1/2" I.D. stainless today for the sleeves. There is a muffler shop near my home that does a fair amount of custom work. I'll get him to weld them after I align them at his shop. We'll need to install them, align them, and tac them. Then remove the pipes and weld em up. Voila, slip-on 4 into 4s.

I actually found these pipes in the KZR classified section. They had been on there for quite a while so I thought they must be gone. On a whim I e-mailed the guy and he still had them. He is moving from south OR to AZ and didn't want to carry them around any more.
He had a couple of calls before me but those guys thought $100 was too much. When he sent me the photos I said I would take them. He was going to visit his parents in Spokane WA so I said I would drive down and pick them up.
So for $100, plus $150 for gas, $20 for mounting rubbers and bolts, and say $50 for welding, that's about $350 (rounded up) for a sweet set of mufflers.
What would they be worth? I couldn't even guess.
