Those pics you showed were of the oil pan the bolts i'm thinking of are the ones under the alt and points cover. So it is 18 then. I would just use those its under pressure. never mind I just reread the post so one has to go to the oil pan. How about this I have an 82 oil pan and oil cooler I'm looking to get rid of. Pm me if you are interested.

Do you already have an oil cooler? Like said I have one with oil pan. It might come out cheaper for you in the long run.

I have an oil cooler from a ZX6R, just no way to hook it up and a ZX6R oil pan obviously won't fit my KZ750.
I might eventually just get the pan, cooler and lines from a GPz750, ZR7 or Zephyr.
I was mostly just curious as to where this mythical M17x1.25 bolt might be found...

I had the same probelm, I could not for the life of me find that bolt anywhere. I work as a mechanical design engineer and I called places that supply fasteners to the auto industry, and heavy equipment manufacturers. Best I can tell that is a kawasaki purpose built bolt any only they used it. You can find one from another oil pan, or make one on a lathe. Thats about it. BTW Kawasaki dosen't even list that part in thier diagrams either. But it does exist.
I choose to part the barbed end of an oil cooler fitting off, drill and tap it, then install an 1/8 inch pipe fitting. I can post a pic if you would like.

If I knew what I was doing all the time life wouldn't be any fun.
