I have the same model/year, and mine came with turn out pipes. I don't know the brand--might be MACs. Can't really say that I like or dislike them, but that's what came on the bike. They sound decent. Here's what they look like on this bike.

If you are looking for better performance and better quality, Kerker is about the best performing, Vance and Hines has best quality, both make about the same amount of power, about 6-8 hp on a 1000. Mac is the lower cost, but materials and build quality are lower and performance gains not as high. You could find a used system off eBay, that is what i did, got a ubiquitous system for my KZ650 for $45 that was stainless rather than chrome and heavy gauge at that. thing is like a tank, but still compact and sounds great. performance is a bit less than my Kerker but at least i don't have to worry about it rotting out in 5 or 10 years.

I found a V&H for $210 and a MAC for $275.I guess I may have to save up for the kerker.

i would grab the v/h for 210....thats a $350 pipe and save up for a kerker....more money but old kawi 4's sound great on a kerker....my v/h sounds good with a comp baffle with the packing gone and the bare baffle re-installed....jet accordingly......B)

I think the V&H I found is a different one. It's the drag type.

I like either the Vance & Hines or the Kerker 4 into 1 myself. On my old KZ the V & H follows the frame lines really nice, excellent product for the price. I have always ran the 4 into 1 headers on all my 4 cylinder bikes. I bought a 1.75 competition baffle and removed the insulation on the V & H and it wasn't too loud at all.

I love the MAC pipe. They have two 4-1 systems. One is a megaphone and one is a canister. The canister is the better of the two. The Kerker is actually discontinued and you will have to buy a remaining stock and is much louder than the MAC. The V&H is louder yet. If you are looking for a bike that you want to ride for longer periods of time the MAC is the best. My commute to and from work was one hour each way when I had my Kerker on the bike, the drone of the pipe was in my head for an hour after I got of the bike. With my MAC the bike performs better in the mid range (45-75MPH) than the Kerker which performed a bit better around 100+MPH. But most importantly I can hear myself think while I am riding, and my ass isn't quivering when I get off the bike like it was with the Kerker. Not to mention that the Kerker is twice as expensive as the MAC. My brother has a V&H on his 750 and it is MUCH louder than my 1100 was with the MAC.

Here is a link straight to their web sight. I like the all black pipe or the one with the black header and chrome muffler. I bought mine straight from MAC and their customer service is par none. If you want an arrangement that you don't see they will mix and match anything you want.
