Hooker Kz650 header for $45 shipped, oh yeah

Found this header on eBay and was watching it closely. Couldn't figure out what it was and the seller had no clue. looking in the Power Pipes article that someone posted parts of on another thread, there it was, smack dab in the face, same style and type header, made by Hooker in the 70's. got a hold of the seller and he still had it, mine for $45 shipped, link is here cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...me=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT pipe is a bit rusty but complete, with no holes. Will make an interesting addition to my lil 650 D

It says came off of a running 77 KZ650. Maybe one of the slip pipes is not shown or its a Yami triple pipe

God i hope not. although there are a few Yamaha triple folks looking for aftermarket, i could get a decent return. I was just looking to replace my kerker, as it has a nice lil 3 inch section right on one of the lower bends that will not stay repaired. gonna try a bit of brazing next, but if i can get this pipe to work, all the better.

if its a triple pipe you would easy get 150 out of it

Got the header yesterday. Came with 4 slip in pipes and a nice collector/muffler. Solid condition, a bit of rust but no holes or major damage. Installed in about 20 minutes or so. Now my question is, is it a Hooker, Jardine or other pipe. I don't recall the Hooker using individual pipes to the collector, whereas the Jardine and Dunstall did. Performance is about on par with the Kerker i replaced, maybe a bit less top end but good midrange and bottom end. Not about to post another Whatsit thread so will be happy with a solid pipe. 2006hhr

There was another auction with a Jardine exhaust that went for $75, looked similar to this pipe, that might eb the one you won. This one had no bidders and i asked the guy if he could relist with a BIN.

What condition is the Kerker in? What ya doin with it?

repairing a hole in the bottom bend of #3 pipe right now, the pipe has been wrapped with heat wrap. Has a new baffle in it, hoping to be able to repair it and get s decent price for it. Still on the fence though, if i can sell the other pipe at a profit, i will go that route and reuse the Kerker.
