Not exactly sure, but I believe there is a diference in the mounts. I would first try to mount a set of empty cases to see if they fit.

74 Z1-A stock

77 KZ-1000A stock
78 Z1-R 100%MINT 500 original Mi.

Out of my curiosity, What is the point of a z1 engine in a 650 frame. The frame is quite a bit weaker not all that much lighter and not that much smaller.

Why not do it? That 1327 has alot more H.P. than a 650. :woohoo:

The 650 frame actually got more bracing around the steering area than the 900/1000 frames. Had better handling than the early big KZs as well.
Add some bracing in key spots to the 650 frame and your good to go.

No close ups of the engine mounts, sorry.
There were a few post in the Archives that had step by step instructions of putting larger engines into smaller frames.
Can't remember off hand the posters though.
I will look.

ZMan is another member who had posts on a swap with some description of mounting mods needed.

@ Freddie

the GPZ motor fits perfect, you only have to add a second motor mount in the front.
