Yea those Kawasaki labels give the price, but the price when the part was originally purchased. I forget and don't really care any more particularly, but they had a date stamp similar to the price stamp on each part saying when the part was bought, how much markup ect to suggested price and it was staggering what would happen really. For example a clutch cable in 1979 may have had a suggested retail of $13.00 with a 50% markup meaning the dealer paid like $8.75 for it. Fast forward to 2009 if that part is still in stock it now has a suggested retail of $50.00 so the label will still have the $13.00 on it, but not going for that price now.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

I know FRAM is supposed to be the spawn of Satan, but hard to believe when I have been using them for 40 years on my cars. I have one on my KZ right now......

It's not hard to believe really. If they were all bad Fram would not be in business today. But there seems to be a pretty good chorus saying watch out. I personally had 2 collapse. Never looked back but like I said that was quite a while ago. Seeing the others I'm glad I didn't. For a while around here you had to go look around for a filter that was not a Fram.

Same here and I love the fact that they also supply the two O-rings... Local auto parts (Checkers, Autozone etc..) carry them for ~$10... Jeff @ Z1 has them as well where I have been getting them for about the same price.

As for problems, collapsing filters etc... Not once in car or bike using FRAM products have I run into the mentioned issues but I guess it does happen...

Same time, I change my oil & filter at least every 1000 miles so maybe this had something to do with it. For as little as these cost ~$20, I figure why not for everything I have accomplished in the old girl why wouldn't I.

That's the only reason I bought a fram. The dealer wanted like $18 for the O rings....

and who knows if they could actually get them from Kawi.

If you like Wix try these guys. I usually make an order once a year for the car, suv and bike. I think at filter1 shipping is free with a $50.00 order. The filters end up being dirt cheap for Wix.

I have no idea. The filter comparisons that I've seen have rated the Emgo filters as excellent. Those same tests have consistently rated the Frams as poor. One thing in particular about some (all?) of the Fram oil filters is that they have cardboard end caps that're glued in place.

Here's one oil filter comparison page - it's been around for quite a while:
