That KZ750L3 page was well done (the link Duck posted). Just curious... how the heck does cam timing get set if there are no timing marks on the cams? You must have to pull them to adjust valve clearance as I bet the shims are under-bucket type.

WG-
I believe the timing marks are there. Look at the photo. One can almost make out an "EX" with a line under it. These sprockets look a lot like those in the 'J' and 1100.

Yes near the round hole there is a IN with a line under it, and further around the sprocket there is a Z7EX with a line under it.
From what I understand these are the marks that I will use to reassemble the alignment with the timeing chain. On the 46th link, again if im understanding correctly.
I can provide a better photo when i get the head back from the machine shop.

I've never seen the newer style cams, they are a bit different than the 73-80 variety. The common thread is that the older cams also have and "IN" and "EX" on the cam sprockets to differentiate the intake from the exhaust. That's always the easiest way to tell (except for the worm gear for the tach on older models). Glad you got it straight. The members of this site have helped me a lot too. Another happy ending!
