I always called the bike the engine came out of my YEE HAW bike as i didn't ride it more than 100 miles a week so i could get my YEE HAWS out. I had a friend that has a "77" LTD and we would cruise town with open headers and on the main drag people would walk out to the curb to see what was comming. Just two old farts acting BAD.
I am going to heli coil all my cam caps and see if i can get a set of buckets filled and machined. Roy

Back in the day we had customers spit the shims with 3Xs and shim on top If you have the valve cover off, watch the shim as you turn the motor over. It will probably raise up out of the tappet opposite of the cam lobe. This is because the lobe id pushing the shim down into the groove on top of the tappet.
Should be used with shim under. set up.
Yes, I saw that happen on more than one occasion. There's a fix for top shim buckets to allow them to be run with cams like that.
The groove in the bucket can be filled up and then machined down flush with the surface. That works very well and keeps the handy shim on top setup.I don't know who does that anymore though.

We used to silver solder the grooves in the buckets then remachine them to get rid of the groove. It was very tricky to do and not distort the bucket skirt.
Roy- action fours used to do alot of that. I sent them an email and asked if they still do. He said not in the last 15 years but you may want to try this guy (email)jordanator@sbcglobal.net
hope it helps

What bore size? If I were you, i'd just get the shim under assy. to be on the safe side. I'm sure you can get them used for under $100.

I have been working on the wiring last night and today. After i got the wiring back to the way it came from the factory the engine lit up. It has been a long time since i heard the 1075 crackle. Over six years.
I have been hitting Jeff up for parts. I'll have to call him again and order some side covers and a left hand control.
I have a couple of fat tanks that has the round petcock and i will install one of those instead of the tank i have now.
It has been pouring down rain all morning and this afternoon but am hoping for a clear spell to take a short ride.
