KZ1000 to KZ1100 Cylinder Heads

I need to know if the Cylinder heads from a KZ1000 will fit that of a KZ 1100.
Just bought an 82 KZ1100 (Photos coming soon) with a bad head for $100.00
I have a friend with some KZ1000 heads laying around. Need to know if this will fit before asking him for one.
I appreciate any information you can give me.

it all depends on the year of the motor.

It would be a 81 KZ1000 J Model head going onto an 82 KZ1100 motor. Does that help?

I think I have one, I will have to check, and also see what condition it is in. It might have a chip in a cooling fin but nothing serious. I will check tonight or tomorrow night. It is in my storrage areea.

I took the head off last night, the guy I got it from must not have known what he was talking about. The head is fine, 1 of the exhaust valves leaks a tiny bit, but that can be fixed.
Now I just need to get a gasket kit, work the head, get a throttle cable and fix the frozen rear brake and I'll be ready to ride it.

BTW, anyone ever seen a KZ1100 turnend into a Military style bike with Ammo cans for saddle bags? That is what I intend to do with this one.

Since you have the head off, do a complete valve job and change the Valve stem seals to new "Vyton" ones. You will regret it in the near future if you don't. These bikes are almost three decades old and the stem seals are old and brittle on the friction area.

We are going to make sure the head is working ok after the re-work, then I'll replace all of the vavles while I am at it.
Then I'll paint the engine black and the rest OD Green with a White star on it.
Got some Ammo Boxes to add as saddle bags too.

How do you think it looks for $100.00
And a gasket set and some brake work along with the little bit of Head work my buddy is going to do on it is all I have to do.
Might end up with $400.00 into it when I am done.
