A 1327 with a very good, big valve, head can use 500 lift cams. However, the largest we recommend for a streetbike is our 435s. That is because street riding would be too hard on valve springs that are stressed by 500 lift. Valve spring life is very good with 435s, so that is what we recommend and offer in our engine kits.

when my 1327 goes back together this summer it will have set of smaller 36 carbs,an electronic ignition instead of magneto and a big oilcooler to make it more usable. handling has nothing to with motor size, the same chassis tricks that work on a stock kz work on one with a big motor tires, suspension etc .the interstate has always been my personal test ground not because of heating issues but for the fact you can find a wideopen stretch and bash em off for 5-10 miles at a crack, one hell of a cobweb remover!

Yes, ditch the mag and get a Dyna 2000. You will love it.

A 1327 big block would be much more streetable than an 1105 that was just bored into a 1000 block. 1327 have cylinder sleeves as thick as a stock 903.

Are you saying thicker sleeves will keep the motor cooler?? I see on most of those "big blocks" there is little or no cooling fins & no holes to cool the inner cylinders. For me, I wouldn't go any bigger than a 1200 or 1260 using the stock block.

I can tell you from personal experience that my 1229 kit works beautifully with no over heating at all, ever. I have been on 1000 mile trips in summer heat and stuck in traffic too. I have a small oil cooler that probably helps a little, but I think as long as it's tuned right and has streetable compression you shouldn't have a problem. My brother has a 1327 kit and also hasn't had any issues when we ride. I say go for it!;)

the problem with the 1105 is when you use stock sleeves theres not enough beef there.if you want to build a big inch stock block motor up to 1197 use a 900 block.my 1170 bike used a 1000 block origionally i had a lot of problems with overheating and could not keep rings in it ,no support for sleeves put same sleeves and pistons in 900 block havent had any more problems, that motor has been 15 plus years still runs like striped ass ape,my 74 has an 1197 kit in it built allmost 5 years ago ,hasnt been driven much but when it gets out it gets ridden hard never had problems with it either.
