No points on an 83, have you taken the petcock off & checked the filter on it ?. Lot of plugins on them, maybe one pulled apart

On my first bike, I ran out of gas and called the shop I bought it from the day before, all mad:angry: . They towed it in for free. Looked it over and told me I had run out of gas. Then they showed me how the petcock worked. I was so embarrassed:blush:

On the 750 twins with electronic ignition (82-83 models), if the battery voltage drops too low they will start spitting and sputtering, then die when you pull in the clutch.

I know this because I have the same electronic ignition on my 79 750 twin, and I ran the battery low when I forgot to hook up the reg/rec ground wire after removing and installing the battery.

When the turn signals stop working you best be headed for the barn as fast as you can, cause it's going to die soon.

YES!! I AM AN IDIOT!!!!

So wheni got home yesterday i checked the tank which i should have done the other night but was too pissed it died. Sure enough the tank was way low and i put it on reserve and it kicked strted right away. Whew, embarassed  but relieved. Thanks for all the help and suggestions, both to the complicated solutions and to the guys who asked if i was out of gas. New battery and plugs are in my possession. Thanks everyone.
