Valve clearance

Go to an auto parts store and buy a feeler gauge set. They are less than 10 bucks. They go down to half a thousandths. I measure my valve clearances in thousandths because that is what my dial indicator is that I use to measure my shims. Just because a number is stamped on the shim, doesn't mean it is exactly that thickness. The after market manuals have a conversion chart for valve clearances in them.....chris3

buy a valve lapping stick while your at it,

handy for lifting the valve cup out.
