810cc 1/4 mile times

Just for interests sake what sort of 1/4 mile times are people getting out of a wiseco 810 kit and what mods do you have to go along with it?

i am hopefully going to buy a 810 kit from the states a dynojet stg 3 kit, K&N pod filters and throw some gpz cams, latemodel zx750 pipes and cut down yoshi can for starters, into a shaft drive chassis ( i know i will lose a bit of go due to driveline losses) and hopefully get mid to low 12second quarters.

I don't think I'd use the GPz cams in your bike. The GPz cams will give you an increase in top end hp at the expense of low and mid range power, and your bike is probably heavier than a GPz750, and it's real difficult to change the gearing. I think the KZ750 cams would probably be a better choice.

If it's a GT750 you are talking about then it already has sportier cams than a KZ750.

It's important to run the right gearing on quarter miles though, so a chain drive bike is always a better proposition to start with.

If you are starting with a stock 650, that bike is said to get just shy of 14s with an experienced rider in the quarters.

With the 750 cylinders and an 810 kit, better cams, better valves/springs, lightly ported/polished head, more suitable carbs with correct jets, and a 4-1 exhaust you should be looking at a hell of a lot closer to 10 seconds shouldn't you?

Since he specified shaft drive, I don't think he is talking about a 650.

Where you from? It might help the members pinpoint which bike you are chatting about. If you have a 750 shaftie and you are in North America, then it is probably an N model (Spectre), if you're not in North America, then you probably have (as Lorcan pointed out) a P model.

i remember seeing a site one time that had a desktop dyno that could tell you how your bike should perform under ideal conditions all you had to know was the aproximate weight of bike and horsepower and it would give you an approximate1/4 mile time and speed.im not sure how precise those programs actually are since there are so many variables like traction,handling etc that figure in to it.a legitimate low 12 sec-high 11 sec bike that can be driven everyday is fast.i dont care what anyone says ive got some really fast bikes around here a couple capable of sub 9s if they hook up,but they are strictly for short runs they are not legitimate daily drivers,but i dont claim them to be either! :whistle: goodluck,happy wrenching!

my 919 is said to run in the low 11's and it's my daily driver....I love it.

I'll throw in my opinion on this one. Here is my guesstimate assuming that the temp is coolish, tire pressure and traction is optimum and the average weight (180 lb) driver knows when and how to shift for max power. We'll assume that the sprockets have been changed from stock for better acceleration because you will probably not be able to max out the top end by the finish line.

Bet on low 12's but with lottsa runs under the belt maybe dipping into the high 11's and I think you would have to launch the bike hard around 4-5000 rpm. Having a difference of over 2 seconds in a properly dialed in 810/650 versus the stock bike is pretty impressive. In fact most guys would be grinning ear to ear after whipping off a 12 flat quarter mile time. Few people realise how fast this really is.

Pee Wee Gleason ran a 13 flat with the stock 650 bike. He was a top level pro who weighed about 6 lbs. more than a rabbitt. He was likely running a bike that Kawasaki had tweaked and tweaked again. An honest high 11 to 12 flat streetbike is more than enough neck snapping acceleration for most drivers to handle.

Ok my two bits ,, I ran mid 13s on my Honda 750 magna with windsheild and saddle bags installed , Yes a Honda , I still have the time tickets ..The bike was stock and said to be a 80hp bike,, Just my two bits of course ,,

Back in the early 80's my KZ650C was stock except for pod filters and a 4 into 1 pipe. I ran high 12's in the 1/4 mile.
I have since installed a 720 wiseco kit, GPZ750 cams, pods, ported head, performance valve job, 26mm carbs and a 4 into 1 pipe. I am now running high 11's on a perfect day. I weigh 220 lbs.
