In 1980 in south africa you used to get a z750 that was a 4 piper like the z900 but was sleeved down to a 750 from Taiwan, maybe its one of them. The only colour that I ever saw was the dark british racing green colour but there could have been others. Its definatly a 900/1000
motor and not the 650/750

Hi Dave, yes, the KZ750D was really a KZ900 using the Z2 750cc engine. I've always wondered why it was sold just in S. Africa. I know the Z2 continued in Japan for a while - but it just seems strange to continue with an overweight/underpowered engine when the 750/4 based on the 650/4 was available.

Yes the Z2 was available in other parts of the world. We are not looking at a Z2 though because they didn't have the fresh air emissions ports. What you have there is a 1979-80 1000LTD engine.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Definitely not a 650-750. That's an American version of a 1980 Markll engine. Probably from an LTD which were not painted black like the std. Mkll or the Classic fuelie. The smog ports on the rocker cover give it away as US model. Also with the outline on the clutch cover and the ignition cover - those were only on 79 & 80 Kz1000's.

Best cases of all Z's,good crank. What's the guy want for it? Cosmetically looks good-the engine # will be KZT000A...

Post edited by: jack, at: 2006/01/23 21:49

Bright Hull hhhmmmm....that's the guy. He emailed me today again with pics of the engine he wanted to sell me. This time he sent me pics of three different Kz's 750, a red one, a blue one and a green 750 twin. This guys doesn't seem to Bright and he can pretty much go to Hull if he is scamming folks!

p.s. Maybe we should send this guy's email to those Nigerian scam artists looking to deposit $86 million in a North American bank account...youi know the one from the former Minister of Finance of Nigeria ! :)
