I've always put a light coating of oil on the cylinders. Figured once motor fired, it would wipe any excess off the walls and clean them up. Ususlly smoke a little for a minute or two but then clear up. Never had any problems.
1980 LTD (changed over the years), 1979 LTD (being rebuilt), 1977 KZ turbo and various KZ's in various states of build. KLX110

.003" per inch of bore is fine unless you are spraying.

I think jay is reffering to running nitrus.
