To the best of my knowledge, all Kawasaki 750 fours have the HyVo cam chain, although the 80 model cylinder block and head have provisions for the roller chain, possibly the 81 models as well (at least the early ones. Right side clutch release started with the 83 GPz750 (Zx750A1) Unitrak model.

Some Kz650 models got the HyVo cam chain in 81, all had it in 82 (Again, AFAIK).

Not a whole lot of difference between a 82 GPz750 motor and one from a KZ750E, do some port work and install an 810 kit and you won't be able to tell any difference :D

The rods are different in the 82 GPz750 motor though, they have an oil passage drilled between the big end and the small end, it was a one year thing.

I checked zedder.com for my first year GPz750 (1982) and the motor VIN (KZ750EE081XXXX, mfg 3/82) is outside of that listed for the 1982 KZ750E model...what this means for you is that none your spare motors are GPz motors. But, the flip side is that steell is correct, the first year GPz750 isn't tremendously different from a KZ750E/H model motor...the head has been mildly ported/polished and the camshafts may have a little hotter grind (found also in the KZ750L3, F1, N1, N2, and the 1991/3 750 Zephyr's).
