APE did a great job converting my 550 cylinders to fit their 615 Wiseco Kit. I sent them 2 cylinder heads, and had them rebuild one, and use the other for parts if needed. They only had to replace the exhaust guides, and all else was OK. They returned everything, and I'm only waiting for the case studs(special run in process) to be complete, then it's back to building it.

I highly recommend them for machine work. Send it to them, or take it to them, and see the shop. That would be a great KZ Krooze for you So Cal Members. :woohoo:

I would be very surprised if those sleeves can be repaired in any way. Contact LA Sleeves for replacement sleeves but I am thinking that if you are going to stay with the stock or slightly oversized bore, it would be best to just buy another cylinder head.

toss the cylinder in the oven while the wife is not looking for about half hour or so on a cookie sheet the same way it goes on motor and listen for a thump that will be the cylinder hitting the bottem as sleeves come up though top.as long as they havent been glued in there they should come right out after warming up.when you go to reinstall put new sleeves in freezer for a while to shrink them ;)

Still recovering, some days are better than others.

If you are going to have us do it, don't even bother taking the old sleeves out. We can do that. We have hundreds of used sleeves. I can have someone go through them and see if he can find a set of 900s when you send it in.

Thanks for that Jay. I will email you, I am undecided on what size I want, Guess the largest bore that doesn't require boring the cases.

One of the questions I have never had answered is how far you can bore out a sleeve. That is is there any minimum wall thickness? My choice for a Wiseco big bore kit for my J was the smallest one cause I was very concerned with the larger kits on how much meat would be left in the sleeve.

I have replaced a sleeve in a Z900 back in the seventies when the factory kindly forgot to put one of the gudgeon cirlips in. As the dealr option was a set on new barrells I had a sleeve machined up and rebored to standard. yes mums oven came in real handy and the the offender just fell out

I can tell you this, the block can be bored out to accept a larger sleeve, but: you would in turn need to bore the crank case holes larger for the larger OD of the sleeves. That said, I was told these sleeves, witch are stock, were bored to 1045, I would guess that is pretty close to max, since a 1075 needs a larger sleeve.
