I would like to rebuild an engine for my 76 900. I will not be racing it but would like it to have plenty guts. I have looked at APE and they have a lot of stuff their, but I would like to hear your input on what would make a great motor: eg. Crank, rods, pistons, head, valve stuff, etc, etc. I do not have unlimited funds, but I can take some time to do this so I can piece it as I go. Any info on what parts to use and what needs to be done to the parts is welcomed.
If your on a tight budget, it would be hard to beat an APE 1015 kit. With the machine work and misc, probably about $1200+ kzzone.com/kits.html
My "dream" motor is:
72mm bore custom pistons
73mm stroker billet roller crank for 1230cc
480 460 cams
big "titanium" valve head, maybe like 38.5 x 32
5speed "overiding" transmission
probably about $15000+
Very possible "dream" motor: 72mm/1075 that runs 8s on "motor only" at 575#

cylinder and head with the 45mm intakes
and 38mm exhausts.Of course you could buy
a new ZX14 for less money than the motor
would cost to build.
