Kerker exhaust baffle !!! was created by Qdude
Really?!?!

The damn thing fell out on me on my 27 mile way to work last week. LOST...

Meanwhile, I've stuffed three stainless steel scrubbies up the back-end with coat hanger wire to somewhat muffle the noise.

Does someone have an old baffle that I might buy off of them? It can be generic, I dont care.

Otherwise, do I really need to spend up to 150 dollars to replace it?

What ???

Ears ringingly yours,

alright i took some pics of it and i have the packing all in one piece as well. if you want a pic of it i guess i can man-up and take a picture of that as well (i just hate touching fiberglass). the system hasnt even been installed yet so its brand new. so the baffle hasnt even been punished yet.

ps this baffle came out of my kerker megaphone system that i bought brand new last year. its originally for a 80s 650, but since the only difference between 650 and 750 is the cc's (and maybe the stroke??) i know it'll work out fine (or i'll make it work).

Just to clarify things for Qdude, I've had my Kerker for 26 years and THAT is the right baffle that cotten has! If your end cap is worn out, threads stripped, etc, they are still available.

Thanks guys, have I mentioned that I adore this site?

The bike had been crashed onto it's right side, the pipe shows telltale damage and deformation where the baffle seats. The prior owner re-secured the baffle using a putty (JB-Weld?) and sheet rock screws. Lasted quite a long time in retrospect.

Lets do the p.m. thing for the dealin's

Thanks!

I just measured the pipe aperture, aforementioned damage notwithstanding, which is 4 inched diameter. New pipe baffles link sent by mark seem to come in shorter and longer versions. The pics cotton sent seem to be those of a longer variety baffle.

I can't imagine a baffle of that length simply falling out, so I would imagine that I had the shorter type previously and would enjoy getting my bike as close to "as was" as possible. I believe that a certain acceptable amount of noise makes us more readily seen for safety.

Does anyone know of the noise/power performance difference between the two length types of baffle?

Is it a shockingly significant difference?

The shorter competition baffle jetted properly would produce some more power and noise. I use the longer baffle and I pack it tightly as I like it relativily quiet. I'm still getting the power advantage of the Kerker without the obnoxious noise. If you want more noise you can just install baffle with NO packing.

Personally I think the baffle-less sound is great. Course you would need a new end cap regardless, and no baffle means some rejetting of the carbs. All a matter of personal taste.
