I had thought of trying two base gaskets.
I think OEM kz1000 gaskets are .030".My
cylinder and head have been resurfaced also.
I am not sure what to do next though.

i posted about useing 2 base gaskets and the response was not to.aparently they tend to squees out.
maybe u could try to have the head oringed.i had a high compression 2 stroker and it was oringed and had a rubber oring in it. u said the head gasket u used had noe metal rings on top ,is that right? if not that is likly the problem. mine does.is yours a 1 peice or 2?did u fill the oil o ring groove with silicone?

I have used copper coat with great success, but if I have a leak that will not stop, then yamma bond seems to seal just about everything

The head gasket is one piece, metal rings
on bores only, not on oil galleries where
the oil leaks always start.Siliconed oring
groove.gaskasich on base gasket. The first time
I did the 1198 I did not use gaskasinch or
silicone and it imediantly leaked,I had to
take it all apart and put new gaskets in.Unless
a better gasket set comes along it is staying
the way it is untill I find a nice stock motor.
Then I will sell off the parts from this motor.
In the mean time,if I get enough money I am going
to do what I should have done in the first place
and buy a newer bike.I will still keep the KZ
though. With just a header and 29 smoothbores it
was fun and stone reliable.
